Smoked Maple Old Fashioned

Dad’s favorite cocktail ups the ante. This smokey, smooth adult beverage is campfire in a crystal glass.

Get ready

  • Muddler
  • Cocktail shaker
  • Cocktail strainer
  • Spherical ice mold
  • Glass cloche with plate
  • Cherry or maple wood chips
  • Matches
  • 3 oz bourbon (Woodford Reserve)
  • 1 shake orange bitters (Regans’)
  • ¾ oz maple syrup (Labonte)
  • 1 orange
  • Maraschino cherries (Luxardo)

Glass cloche-less? Amazon can have you bringing out your inner mixologist in no time. Wood chips too.

Get mixing

  1. Add the bourbon, orange bitters and maple syrup into a cocktail shaker ¾ full of ice.
  2. Shake until frost forms on the outside of the shaker.
  3. Muddle one slice of orange in the bottom of an old fashioned cocktail glass.

  4. Strain the contents of the shaker into the glass.
  5. Add to the glass one skewered cherry.
  6. Add to the glass one spherical ice ball.
  7. Place the cocktail glass on the plate.
  8. Ignite a wood chip and place on the plate.
  9. Cover the cocktail glass with a glass cloche until the wood chip stops smoking.
  10. Lift the cloche.
