Champagne at the fair

Origami pumpkin garland

These sweet and festive pumpkins deserve a center seat in your Fall decor. The majority of the folding in this origami project is straightforward, so don’t be afraid to give these a shot!

Get ready

  • Ruler
  • Rotary cutter or scissors
  • Hot glue gun
  • 4 12 in x 12 in sheets of scrapbook paper for the pumpkins
  • 1 sheet of scrapbook paper for the stems
  • Twine
  • Hot glue

These materials are easy to find at a large craft store like Michaels. The thickness of scrapbook paper will prevent your pumpkins from tearing or wrinkling when hung. But, card stock is too thick.

Get crafting

  1. Cut each of the orange sheets of paper into 4 squares (for 16 pumpkins).
  2. Fold the sheet in half (colored side out). Unfold.
  3. Turn 90 degrees. Fold the sheet in half (colored side out). Unfold.
  4. Fold the top and bottom in to the center crease (colored side out).
  5. Turn 90 degrees. Fold the top and bottom in to the center crease.
  6. Fold the edges back to the top and bottom.
  7. Flip over. Fold the top and bottom in to the center crease. Unfold.
  8. Fold 4 more creases, and tuck them under, as shown in the photo.
  9. Fold 4 inside top corners and 4 inside bottom corners under.
  10. Unfold each corner and pinch into a “v” using the creases you created in step 9.
  11. Flip over. Fold outer 4 corners in (choose angle of the fold depending on your desired shape for the pumpkin).
  12. Cut 16 stems from the brown sheet of paper.
  13. Hot glue a stem to the back of each pumpkin.
  14. Hot glue the pumpkins 2 inches apart onto a piece of twine.
  15. Hang the garland, pour yourself a cocktail and admire your work of art!

So festive! I’m going to try with construction paper since that’s what I have on hand. Great inexpensive way to add fall cheer!
